On July 16, 2019, a grease fire changed the lives of my family forever. My mother suffered 2nd, and 3rd degree burns on 80% of her body. I have flash burns on my face and arm. And, my step-father injured his back trying to put out the fire.
The recovery process has begun. The road ahead is a long and painful one. Our goal is to raise money to offset labor costs so my mother can return to a safe, and clean environment. We purchased an older home from the city of Louisville last year, and every cent helps us speed up the process.
With my mother in the hospital, repairs will grind to a halt. For example, we were quoted $12,000 to install new windows. With the help of a handyman and some guidance, my mother was able to redo our windows for around $800 in labor.
Mommy always says, “smile to fool the Devil.” We’re doing our best to keep our spirits up and appreciate any support you can lend.
